Recently, actor Prakash Raj compared Hindi cinema to Madame Tussauds Museum during the Kerala Literature Festival. He claimed that Hindi cinema has become "fake" and "money-driven." He also complimented Malayalam and Tamil cinema.

Prakash Raj said, “Today, Hindi cinema has gone away from its roots. The cinema doesn't look real anymore; instead, everything looks beautiful, shiny, and plastic, like the wax figures you see at Madame Tussauds wax museums. It is fake and focused on making money.”

Prakash Raj highly praised Malayalam and Tamil cinema. He said that both industries are still making films with strong and truthful stories. In Tamil, new young directors are making films on important issues like Dalits, which is very promising.

Prakash Raj said that after the advent of multiplexes, Hindi films began to be made only for the wealthy urban audience. They became more glamorous and pretentious, which broke the connection with rural areas (like Rajasthan and Bihar). The emotional and true stories of the past have become less common.

The Kerala Literature Festival, held over four days in Kozhikode, was attended by over 400 people. Many prominent figures, including Nobel laureate Abdul Razak Gurnah, economist Abhijit Banerjee, astronaut Sunita Williams, and author Kiran Desai, attended the event.
