The Malayalam film industry has been in a stir ever since these shocking revelations in the Hema Commission report. Now, veteran film producer Ranjith stands accused of misbehavior by Bengali actress Srilekha Mitra. Following this allegation, Ranjith has resigned from the post of President of Kerala Film Academy. After her allegation, the protest against him and state government increased, that added to his pressure to resign.

In an audio clip sent to a television channel, Ranjith explained that he does not want to remain in this post as this will adversely affect the reputation of the leftist government in the state. Notably, earlier this week, Bengali actress Srilekha Mitra accused him of misbehavior. According to her allegations, when she met Ranjit to discuss a project in 2009, he touched her inappropriately without permission.

Even after resigning, Ranjit has denied all these allegations. He mentioned that he is the real victim in this case. He also clarified that the actress was rejected for that role because he did not like her performance. The filmmaker said that he is ready to fight him in the court of law if needed.

Serious allegations against the industry have been made in that report of the Hema Commission. Habitually, the exploitation by men in powerful positions has happened. Work is promised to artists in exchange for sexual relations. After that report, Malayalam film industry has come into the limelight. Congress and BJP, opposition parties also stepped up their protest against the state government, raising objection and said Ranjit has no moral right to continue in the post.
