‘I Owe Everything to My Mother’: Karisma Kapoor Credits Babita for Her Success

Raj Kapoor's granddaughter recently appeared on the reality singing show "Indian Idol." Here, she spoke openly about her mother Babita and shared how she stood by her even during the most difficult times.
Host Aditya Narayan addressed the audience and explained that it was Karisma Kapoor's mother, Babita, who supported her daughter's career. He said that Karisma Kapoor was the on-screen superstar of the Kapoor family, but the off-screen superstar was her mother, Babita. Hearing this, Karisma became emotional and said, "You're making me cry right now. I adore my mother. A mother should be like that, a mother is a mother. Of course, my family supported me, but the confidence and values she instilled in me are most important. I think that's why I give my mother all the credit for who I am and who I was today."
Karisma further explained that her mother, Babita, worked in the Hindi film industry for only seven years, but almost all of her films were successful. She shared that Babita worked with many legendary actors, including Rajesh Khanna, Jeetendra, Manoj Kumar, Dharmendra, and members of the Kapoor family, such as Shammi Kapoor and Shashi Kapoor.
According to the Kapoor family's traditions and rules, women in the family were not allowed to work professionally in the entertainment industry. Consequently, Babita bid farewell to Hindi cinema.
