Water Crisis Hits ‘Varanasi’: Authorities Reject Massive Tanker Request for Underwater Shoot
Varanasi Shooting: SS Rajamouli is busy shooting his upcoming film "Varanasi." The film has encountered a setback during the shoot. Let's find out what the production company is facing.
The next film by SS Rajamouli, titled “Varanasi,” is facing problems. The film had applied to obtain permission for using 150 water tankers required for shooting, but the HMWSSB denied this request. The crew was in need of water to create an underwater scene.
According to media reports, the board's decision has affected preparations for a key shooting being filmed on a special set. Telangana Today reported that the Board rejected the demand of the production team of SS Rajamouli's film "Varanasi."
Officials cited the summer season as the primary reason for this decision. Hyderabad's water supply system is under pressure due to the increasing demand for water and the heat. Officials stated that they cannot allocate such a large number of water tankers for non-essential purposes. They want the city's residents to have access to water.
The rejection of this demand has impacted the planned shooting schedule for the underwater scenes of "Varanasi." These scenes were expected to be a spectacular and crucial part of the film. The production team had promised to cover the expenses of the tankers. However, the department officials reportedly became concerned by the large demand for water tankers.
"Varanasi" stars Mahesh Babu as "Rudra," Priyanka Chopra Jonas as "Mandakini," and Prithviraj Sukumaran as "Kumbha." The film is scheduled to release in theaters on April 7, 2027.
