Remo D'Souza: Remo D'Souza spoke about his religious conversion. His wife also explained why he suddenly became interested in Hinduism...
Remo D'Souza started his career as a choreographer but now has become a producer and director. Recently, Remo D'Souza and his wife Lizelle talked about their spiritual faith. He also revealed what his family felt about his change of faith.
During a conversation on Nayandeep Rakshit's YouTube channel, Remo explained how he transformed from Ramesh Gopi Nair to Remo D'Souza. The director said, "I never felt pressure or criticism. I think my parents were very sharing. I don't know how they were so comfortable." Sharing a special moment with his father, Remo said, "One day I went and told my father that I do a lot of work for the church and I think I want to join it. He said, 'Okay, do it. Just don't change my name.' So my name is Remo Gopi D'Souza."
Remo's wife, Lizelle, who grew up in a Catholic family, shared how her spiritual journey has expanded. She said, "It's very important to me and to him as well. I was born Catholic, he was born Hindu and later converted. I've always had a Ganpati idol for the last 25 years. In the last four or five years, probably because of my parents' passing, I suddenly became attracted to Hinduism. I do all the pujas and I love doing it, even though I'm Catholic."
The couple also talked about raising their children in an environment of freedom and respect. Lizelle recalled a moment when Remo's parents were briefly confused about naming their first son. Remo explained, "We named him Adonis, and since my parents are from Jamnagar, how would they pronounce it? So we also gave him the Hindu name Dhruv. This way, he had two names. Later, as he grew up, he decided to keep the name Adonis."
On the work front, Remo D'Souza last directed the film "Be Happy," which released last year, starring Abhishek Bachchan. He is currently producing RJ Mahwash's debut film, "Tedhi Hai Par Meri Hai." Remo continues to work as a choreographer.
