Vir Das Says Comedy Will Help Happy Patel Stand Strong Despite Dhurandhar’s Box Office Run

Stand-up comedian and actor Vir Das is currently in the news for his upcoming film, 'Happy Patel.' 'HappyPatel: DangerousJasoos' is the spy played by Vir Das in the movie. This movie is an action-comedy film. Vir Das was quite busy with the promotions of his film; now, he talks about 'Dhurandhar.' This movie is still a box office success 40 days after its release. 'Dhurandhar' is a spy thriller where the protagonist played by Ranveer Singh is an undercover spy.

In an interview with NDTV, Vir Das was asked if "Dhurandhar" is still running in theaters and earning well. Could this have any impact on his film "Happy Patel: Dangerous Jasoos?" Vir Das said that the genre of "Happy Patel: Dangerous Jasoos" would work in its favor. People want to laugh more than get angry or cry. When you're tired of seriousness, come to the theater and we'll lighten your mood a bit. However, he also said he would see "Dhurandhar" soon.

Regarding his film, Vir Das further said, "If you think about it, you don't go out of the house that much to watch action and drama. But when you watch a comedy in a theater with people, it's a different experience. Comedy is a collective experience." This is why actors like Zakir Khan, Ricky Gervais, and me can pack theaters, because people genuinely want to sit and laugh with others. There will be an audience for comedy too. They may not be numerous, but they do exist. Vir Das believes that college students and Instagram and YouTube fans miss good theatrical comedy. He said that most theatrical comedies are big hits and broad. But comedies must also be made for the audience of "Delhi Belly" or "Go Goa Gone." Their audience is huge.

In "Happy Patel: Dangerous Jasoos," produced under the Aamir Khan Productions, Vir Das plays a fake British spy who is sent to India on a secret mission. This is his directorial debut with Kavi Shastri. Besides Vir Das, the film also stars Mona Singh, Mithila Palkar, Imran Khan, Sharib Hashmi, and Srishti Tawde, with Aamir Khan making a cameo. This film is releasing in theatres on 16th January.
