Director JK Bihari Reveals He Wouldn’t Have Cast Salman Khan If He Knew He Was Salim Khan’s Son
JK Bihari on Salman Khan: JK Bihari explained that Salman Khan was so eager to get a break that he signed a three-film contract with producers at a very low price.

Today, Salman Khan is a Bollywood superstar. There was a time when he, too, struggled to break into the industry. Film director JK Bihari recently revealed that if Salman Khan had told that he was Salim Khan's son, he wouldn't have gotten his first film which was "Biwi Ho To Aisi (1988)."
In a recent interview with Siddharth Kannan, director JK Bihari said that despite the entire cast being finalized, he was still looking for a boy to play the lead character's brother. That's when he spotted Salman Khan. The director was sitting in his garage when he saw Salman Khan passing by, and he realized he had found his actor. However, he didn't know he was the son of writer Salim Khan, otherwise he wouldn't have cast him in the film.
JK Bihari said, "He (Salman Khan) came and spoke to me, and I said yes. He didn't mention his father's name. If he had, I probably wouldn't have cast him." When asked why, he said, "Salim Khan was such a prominent writer, and Salman Khan's role in the film was very small. It wasn't a heroic role."
JK Bihari explained, "I thought that now that he (Salman Khan) knew the role, he might refuse. But he didn't." When Salim Khan learned that Salman Khan was going to play a role in "Biwi Ho To Aisi," he said, "You're a new director, he's new too."
JK Bihari further explained that Salman Khan was so eager to get a break that he signed a three-film contract with the producers at a very low price. A year later, Salman Khan landed the lead role in Maine Pyar Kiya. There was no looking back for him.
